1930s

In 1937, John Herman Hickman, our founder, began raising 75 White Leghorn chickens purchased from his brother-in-law. In 1938, he moved the operation to the rear of the co-op store and integrated it into his growing operation. Over the next five decades, he led Hickman Hatchery, Hickman Farms and later Peco Farms and Peco Foods through sustained growth.
