Peco Spotlight: Leo Altenberg
I started my career in fast food as a teenager, and after attending culinary school and earning a degree from the University of Arkansas in food science, I spent several years in the poultry industry before Peco hired me in 2017. As Peco’s first Research & Development team member, I’ve been able to help the department grow and make great strides in innovation.
“Our goal in Research & Development is to support Peco’s EDGE – Every Day Great Execution. We aim to set our plants up for success by developing innovative yet executable products.” – Leo Altenberg, Culinary Research and Development Manager
Our goal when developing a product is to create something that is a win for everyone. We work closely with customers to design products that meet their flavor and design specifications, while also delivering a safe and delicious product to consumers.
Peco’s take on innovation is special because we put a lot of emphasis on creating great relationships between the company and customers through our work at the culinary center. My hope is that Peco’s R&D team will continue to grow, and I’m able to mentor junior team members to become strong leaders in poultry innovation.
