Peco is searching for a Water Treatment / Waste Water Supervisor at our live operations plant in Pocahontas, AR.

General Responsibility:

Maintains, performs, and develops required programs to ensure the ongoing compliance to all local, State, and Federal regulations pertaining to the Pocahontas, Arkansas water treatment / waste water operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise assigned hourly Water Treatment / Waste Water staff & grounds personnel.
  • Enforces safety programs, as well as identifies & correct safety hazards. Holds safety meetings; trains team members on safe job procedures. Investigates accidents & executes corrective actions.
  • Verify daily & weekly payroll time sheets for all employees in the department.
  • Supervises & maintains a safe & functional water treatment facility proving potable water to the processing facility for human consumption & food processing.
  • Supervises & maintains a safe & functional wastewater operation that complies with all local, State, & Federal regulations pertaining to direct wastewater discharge.
  • Maintain site grounds.
  • Maintain a status of awareness of all current OSHA & other related regulations with team members, supervisors, managers, & corporate personnel.
  • Conduct/assist in any inspections from compliance officers or regulatory personnel.
  • Issues work orders as needed to Maintenance personnel.
  • Monitors & manages team member performance; including recommending disciplinary action to Human Resources when necessary.
  • Interviews potential candidates & makes recommendations to Human Resources for hiring.
  • Completes daily staffing & attendance reports & turns into Human Resources.
  • Performs field sampling & analysis to meet permit discharge criteria (i.e., determine pH, alkalinity, acidity, sulfates, dissolved solids on wastewater streams utilizing handheld, wet chemistry, scales, measuring devices, spectrophotometers, & drying ovens).
  • Collects accurate daily readings/data & records/maintains in daily log.
  • Orders & keeps an adequate stock of any & all items needed to keep the treatment systems operational.
  • Oversee special maintenance projects that occur in the plant.
  • Perform other duties, various special tasks, & special projects as assigned.
  • Know & comply with all written Corporate safety & plant policies.
  • Maintain the highest possible level of personal hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with plant GMP policies.
  • Follow the written specification for packaging & labeling of products.
  • Identify & report any suspicious or abnormal situation to the plant manager. Abnormal situations would be:
    • Product tampering
    • Willful product adulteration
    • Unauthorized employees in restricted areas
    • Situation where a belief that product adulteration may be occurring
    • Equipment malfunction that may put product wholesomeness at stake

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 3-5 years leadership experience; industrial maintenance supervisory experience a plus.
  • Technical competence required in industrial and/or wastewater treatment systems operations & maintenance.
  • Ability to exercise judgment, as well as excellent communication & documentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Must possess an advanced Arkansas Industrial Wastewater Operator License, Arkansas Water Treatment II, and Distribution I License.
  • Completion of high school & vocational technical school preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in industrial and/or wastewater treatment systems operations & maintenance preferred.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of computers & related software/systems.
  • Must have ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent customer service skills & attitude with ability to maintain good working relationships with all department supervisors.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand & walk for long periods of time.
  • Standing/walking 100% of the workday.
  • Lifting various weights on an as needed basis, up to 70#.
  • Must be able to working long hours & over (5) days per week as needed due to business demands.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, & climb steps.
  • Must be comfortable working in organic conditions.
